Frequently Asked Questions

what is hypnobirthing?

It is an evidence-based approach which aims to provide you with information and knowledge to empower you to make informed choices about your birth. It also provides you with a toolkit of practical techniques including relaxation, breathing, visualisation and affirmations to support you during labour.

when should i start a hypnobirthing course?

I would recommend any time after the first trimester. You can start as late or early as you like, though something can be said for the more time you have ahead of the big day, the more time you will have to prepare and practice the techniques.

why should I join a mindsway hypnobirthing class?

By taking part in my classes you will receive:

  • 10 hours of antenatal education

  • Mindsway Hypnobirthing gift bag

  • Class handbook packed with information about birth and pregnancy

  • 5 Hypnobirthing tracks to download and listen to at home

  • An additional private one-to-one call with me

  • Free postnatal digital pack filled with videos and resources including feeding sessions, a full baby massage course, instructions on songs, a full weaning course and more

  • The Birth Uprising’s Hypnobirthing Digital Pack (worth £55)

am i guaranteed a pain free and uncomplicated birth?

No, Hypnobirthing isn’t pain relief nor is it a guarantee that your birth will perfectly follow the plan you make for it.

However, the information, knowledge and practical techniques that will be provided to you on my Hypnobirthing course will support you to have a positive mindset around birth, ease anxiety, help you to feel more in control, and have a toolkit to draw upon to manage the intensity of labour.

can i still do hypnobirthing if i have a caesarian?

Absolutely! Hypnobirthing is for all types of birth as it is a full antenatal education in which we will cover a multitude of scenarios and interventions. Relaxation techniques can still be used during a caesarian and the information and knowledge provided will support you to make informed choices about your experience and care.

Should my birth partner join me in the classes?

If you have a birth partner, it is strongly recommended that they come along with you so that they can be informed and confident to support you in whatever way you need. The classes are just as much for them as they are for you.

Where do your classes take place?

It depends! I am based in Nunhead in South East London, so will travel to your home for private classes if you are also based in South East London, or within 5 miles of Nunhead. Alternatively, I also deliver private classes online over Zoom.

Group classes will be available later in the year and will take place in a venue in SE15.

When do your classes take place?
